Booker and Patel get into shouting match: ‘I don’t think you’re long for your job’

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) got into a heated exchange with FBI Director Kash Patel, telling the leader he expects President Trump will soon boot him from the job.

Booker blasted Patel for widespread firings of the bureau’s career staff, gutting leadership and crime-fighting expertise, telling him, “I believe you’re failing.”

The comments come during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing and as Patel faces GOP criticism over his leadership of the FBI in the wake of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“Because of your failures of leadership, I don’t think you’re fit to lead the bureau. Here’s the thing, Mr. Patel, I think you’re not going to be around long. I think this might be your last full oversight hearing,” Booker said. “Because as much as you supplicate yourself to the will of Donald Trump and not the constitution of the United States of America, Donald Trump has shown us in his first term, and in this term, he is not loyal to people like you. He will cut you loose.”

“This may be the last time I have a hearing with you, because I don’t think you’re long for your job,” Booker added.

That loud to a shouting match between the two men.

“Sir, that rant of false information does not bring this country together,” Patel shot back, before continuing to shout at Booker that “it’s my time.”

The outburst came to a close amid gavel banging from committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) as Booker shouted to Patel, “I am not afraid of you.”
