Rep. Ronny Jackson reinstated to retired rank of rear admiral

The Navy has restored Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) to the retired rank of rear admiral after he received a demotion in 2022 for unethical behavior.

“After finding good cause to reopen your retired grade determination, and upon review of all applicable reports and references, it is my pleasure to inform you, effective immediately, you are hereby reinstated to the retired grade of Rear Admiral (Lower Half) in the United States Navy,” Secretary of the Navy John Phelan wrote in a letter Jackson posted on social media.

A prior investigation revealed Jackson made “sexual and denigrating” comments about a female subordinate, consumed alcohol on a presidential trip in violation of standing policies and used prescription-strength sleeping medication, which some said negatively influenced his ability to provide proper medical care, according to The Associated Press.

Jackson served as a White House physician during both the Obama and Trump administrations.

He lauded the Trump administration’s decision to reverse his demotion.

“I was, and still am, a retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, and Joe Biden is a retired old FOOL,” Jackson wrote Wednesday in a post on the social platform X.

“After the Biden administration’s politically motivated attacks against me, I am pleased to share that my military rank has been fully restored. Thank you, @SECNAV, for righting the wrongs of the last administration,” he added.
