Watch: Powell speaks on economy at Jackson Hole as Trump boosts pressure on Fed

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell spoke on the economy Friday morning in Wyoming as President Trump continues to prod the nation’s central bank for interest rate cuts.
Powell, after announcing in July that the Fed would keep rates steady for the fifth straight month, justified the decision by pointing to a “strong” jobs report and a lower unemployment rate. The latest report, however, included rescissions in the numbers from May and June — showing the job market may not be as stable as previously thought.
The symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyo., came as Powell and the Fed face pressure over another rate decision in September.
The event was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
