House Dem will introduce resolution demanding Epstein files’ release: ‘Put up or Shut up!’

Rep. Marc Veasey (D-Texas) said on Sunday he plans to introduce a resolution demanding files be released in the case involving financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Either @realDonaldTrump and his acolytes fueled the rumors of the significance of these Epstein files to help his campaign, or something is there!” Veasey said in a post on the social platform X.

“That’s why on Monday, I’ll introduce a resolution demanding the Trump Administration release all files related to the Epstein case,” he continued. “Put up or Shut up!”

The Justice Department last week released a memo concluding Epstein did not keep a “client list” used to blackmail high-profile people nor that there was any evidence of foul play in his death, which had previously been ruled a suicide.

President Trump has stood by the DOJ memo, even as segments of his base has made accusations of a cover-up or of failed campaign promises. Trump said on the 2024 trail that he would make the Epstein files public if he were elected.

He has also defended his attorney general, Pam Bondi, who has faced fierce backlash for saying earlier this year that the Epstein files were on her desk but then appearing to suggest they did not exist by releasing the memo last week.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein,” Trump said in a social media post on Saturday.

Veasey joins other Democrats who have sought to capitalize on the growing strife in Trump’s base. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) also called on House Republicans to hold a vote demanding the Trump administration release the files.

“Why are the Epstein files still hidden? Who are the rich & powerful being protected?” Khanna said in a post on X over the weekend.

“On Tuesday, I’m introducing an amendment to force a vote demanding the FULL Epstein files be released to the public,” he continued. “The Speaker must call a vote & put every Congress member on record.”
