Live updates: Trump heads to Texas after catastrophic floods

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump on Friday will head to Texas Hill Country, the scene on July 4 of devastating flooding that killed at least 120 people, with dozens still missing.

“That was a terrible event. Terrible event,” Trump told reporters Monday when he announced the visit. “Texas was just absolutely, so badly hurt by something that was a big surprise late in the evening.”

The president will survey damage and is expected to join local and state officials for a roundtable.
