Ark Valley Voice learned late Tuesday that former Trump attorney Sidney Powell has reached a settlement with former Dominion Voting Systems executive and Salida resident Eric Coomer, according to court documents filed on Monday, June 24.

Coomer, who was Vice President of Technology for Dominion Voting Systems during the 2020 election, was [falsely]accused by Douglas County podcaster Joe Oltmann and a host of Trump acolytes including Powell, of rigging the 2020 election.
Reached for comment, Coomer’s attorney, Charlie Cain of commercial litigation firm Cain & Skarnulis said simply, “All I can say is the matter has been resolved.” There has been no information regarding the terms of the settlement.
Coomer was suing Powell as part of a larger defamation suit against Oltmann, his organizations FEC United and Shuffling Madness Media, as well as a host of far-right entities. They include the One American News Network (OAN) and Chanel Rion, Sidney Powell and her organization Defending the Republic, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and the Trump Campaign. The suit also included ultra-conservative pundit Michelle Malkin, The Gateway Pundit James “Jim” Hoft, and conservative podcaster Eric Metaxas.
Powell leads the law firm Sidney Powell P.C.  and she has been actively involved in what the far-right references as “election integrity issues” including her nonprofit called Defending the Republic.
The news of this settlement comes two months after the Colorado Court of Appeals issued its ruling that the case filed in 2021 by Dr. Eric Coomer, against former President Trump for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress (by their many statements accusing him of fixing the 2020 election) has a right to proceed to trial.
Powell is the sixth defendant in Coomer’s lawsuit against them to settle. The network Newsmax settled with Coomer and issued a retraction of its assertions that Coomer had somehow influenced the election, back in 2021. The OAN and Chanel Rion settled with Coomer in September 2023.
The ruling by the court of appeals found that in applying the anti-SLAPP statute, § 13-20-1101, C.R.S. 2023, it concluded that Coomer as the plaintiff has met the hurdles establishing a reasonable likelihood of success on his claims for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress arising out of statements by various defendants that the plaintiff made.
Powell apparently saw the writing on the wall, even as some of her fellow defendants are appealing the court’s ruling.
