Missouri AG says he’s suing New York for ‘direct attack’ on Trump – KCTV 5

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said he’s filing suit against the State of New York weeks after former President Donald Trump was convicted on 34 felony charges.
“I will be filing suit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump,” Bailey announced on Twitter. “It’s time to restore the rule of law.”
Trump was found guilty by a jury in late May of all 34 charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through a hush money payment to a porn actress.
“This was a rigged, disgraceful trial,” an angry Trump told reporters after leaving the courtroom on May 30. “The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people. They know what happened, and everyone knows what happened here.”
Bailey claimed Republicans must fight back against what he called a “rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail.”
“It sabotages Missourians’ right to a free and fair election,” he said.
Trump’s sentencing is set for July 11, four days before the 2024 Republican National Convention begins in Milwaukee.
