Donald Trump and Joe Biden are nearly tied in new battleground poll – USA TODAY
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are neck-and-neck among voters nationwide and in pivotal swing states less than two weeks after Trump’s guilty verdict in his New York hush money case.
The poll, released Sunday by CBS News and YouGov, shows 49% of voters across the country would likely support Biden at this point in the election, and 50% would vote for Trump. But when voters from battleground states were asked, 50% would likely vote for Biden, and 49% would likely vote for Trump.
Both results are well within the poll’s margin of error of +/- 3.8 percentage points. It includes an oversample in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The poll was conducted from June 5 to June 7, just days after a Manhattan jury convicted Trump of falsifying business records in an effort to influence the 2016 election.
When it comes to Trump’s guilty verdict, 71% of voters who said they were likely to support Trump this fall answered it was not a factor in determining their vote for the former president.

Eighty percent of Republicans polled believe Trump was charged because of directions from the Biden administration. There is no evidence the president or other administration officials targeted the former president, who is also the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee.
Fifty-four percent of voters planning to support Biden in the fall said the only reason they were voting for the current president is to oppose Trump.

When it comes to different voter demographics, Biden picked up support from 81% of Black survey respondents in the CBS News poll, compared to Trump’s 18%. Fifty-four percent of women polled said they’re planning to back Biden this fall, and 45% said they’re planning to vote for Trump.
When is comes to voters over 65, Trump leads Biden 58% to 41%, according to the poll released Sunday. Sixty-four percent of white voters with no degree support Trump, while 36% say they’re choosing Biden in November.
The first 2024 presidential debate between Biden and Trump will be held at 9 p.m. ET on June 27. It will be hosted by CNN.
