Donald Trump’s hush-money trial is adjourned until next Tuesday. Yesterday the former president’s lawyers rested their case after examining two witnesses: the combative Robert Costello, a Trump associate who tried to damage Michael Cohen’s credibility, and a paralegal working for Todd Blanche, one of Mr Trump’s lawyers. The judge then excused the jury until after the holiday weekend and spent the rest of the day hearing arguments from both sides about how he should instruct the jury to deliberate. Outside the courtroom, Mr Trump insisted that while his lawyers might have finished making their case, “I won’t be resting. I don’t rest.” Closing arguments are expected next week.
