Iowa Attorney General to announce another lawsuit targeting President Biden – KTIV Siouxland's News Channel

DES MOINES, Iowa (Iowa State Capitol Bureau) – A day after she traveled to New York to campaign on behalf of former president Donald Trump in New York during one of his criminal trials, Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird will hold a news conference to discuss the latest lawsuit she will join to sue President Joe Biden’s administration.
Bird has joined a lawsuit with other Republican attorneys general to try to stop the Biden administration’s requirement for higher fuel efficiency standards in heavy duty vehicles. Those standards could favor electric vehicles.
Iowa joined Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Iowa is one of the top ethanol-producing states in the country and electric vehicles represent competition.
Bird endorsed Trump for president before the 2024 Iowa Republican Caucuses, making her the only statewide official to endorse him. The endorsement also put her at odds with the party’s leader. Governor Kim Reynolds endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who later finished second to Trump in the caucuses.
On Monday, Bird traveled to New York for a campaign appearance with other Trump supporters to express their support for him outside his criminal trial.
Trump is criminally charged with 34 felony counts. He is accused of falsifying business records to cover up his sexual encounter and subsequent payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels as a means to cover up the affair so that voters would not find out about it before the 2016 presidential election.
