CNN Analyst Mocks Trump Lawyer Alina Habba For Saying ‘We Won!’ — Even Though She Explained It Was A Joke Seconds Later – Mediaite

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig mocked Trump lawyer Alina Habba for a “boastful claim” after she exclaimed “We won!” on Fox News because the New York appeals court reduced the amount of former President Donald Trump’s fraud appeal bond to $175 million. But Habba explained seconds later, “We didn’t win –”
On Monday night’s edition of , Habba was gleeful over the ruling, declaring “We won!” with a laugh, then immediately clarifying, “No, we didn’t win” but that she felt vindicated from the taunts that had been directed at Trump over the payment of the bond:
JESSE WATTERS: Let’s bring in Trump legal spokeswoman Alina Habba. Aliba [sic] what happened today?
ALINA HABBA: We won! (laughs) You know? No, we didn’t win. You know when we’ll win? When we get this all reversed, which is what’s going to happen.
Honig was a guest on Monday night’s edition of CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, during which Collins played a clip from that interview — which included Habba saying “We didn’t win” — and Honig laughed and ridiculed Habba:
JESSE WATTERS, FOX NEWS HOST: What happened today?
ALINA HABBA, TRUMP ATTORNEY: We won. You know? No, we didn’t win. You know when we’ll win? When we get this all reversed, which is what’s going to happen.
But you know, I hope she took a little piece of humble pie today, because that’s what was served to her, just a little. But we’ll be — we’ll be serving a lot more of that in the next couple of years.

ELIE HONIG, CNN SENIOR LEGAL ANALYST: Wow, a boastful claim there, by Alina Habba.
The first thing she said was “we won?” That’s a premature declaration of victory, to say the least. That’s like spiking the football, at the 50-yard line. I mean, they got a nice ruling today. But to say we won, is a ridiculous thing. She needs to sort of get with it a little bit here. Because in any case, you’re going to have decisions you win, decisions you lose, you’re going to have ups and downs. And you can’t get too down, and you certainly can’t celebrate like you’ve just won the game, when you get one pre-trial — pre-appeal, in this case, ruling.
