Trump, others react to judge's decision about Fani Willis in Georgia election interference case – Atlanta News First
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – After a judge ruled that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis can stay on her office’s election interference case, several attorneys and political figures are giving their opinions on the matter.

The judge said Willis can continue leading the prosecution against former President Donald Trump and 18 allies — but only if she or Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor whom she was in a previous relationship with, leaves.
Hours after the ruling, Wade announced he had stepped down from the case.
“I am offering my resignation in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and to move this case forward as quickly as possible,” he wrote to Willis in a hand-delivered letter.

The nation’s 45th president at the center of the election interference indictment took to Truth Social shortly after Wade resigned as special prosecutor.
The Fani Willis lover, Mr. Nathan Wade Esq. has just resigned in disgrace, as per his and her reading of the judge’s order today. Nathan was the ‘special,’ in more ways than one, prosecutor ‘engaged’ by Fani (pronounced Fauni) Willis, to persecute Trump for Crooked Joe Biden and his Department of Injustice for purposes of election interference and living the life of the rich and famous. This is the equivalent of Deranged Jack Smith getting ‘canned.’ Big stuff, something which should happen in the not too distant future!
Steve Sadow, one of Trump’s Georgia attorneys, said in a statement that he disagrees with the ruling.
While respecting the court’s decision, we believe that the court did not afford appropriate significance to the prosecutorial misconduct of Willis and Wade, including the financial benefits, testifying untruthfully about when their personal relationship began, as well as Willis’ extrajudicial MLK ‘church speech,’ where she played the race card and falsely accused the defendants and their counsel of racism. We will use all legal options available as we continue to fight to end this case, which should never have been brought in the first place.
Ashleigh Merchant, the attorney for co-defendant Michael Roman, was also disappointed in the ruling, although she considered it “vindication” for the defense. Merchant and Roman were the ones to file the bombshell January motion accusing Willis of being in a relationship with Wade.
While we believe the court should have disqualified Willis’ office entirely, this opinion is a vindication that everything put forth by the defense was true, accurate and relevant to the issues surrounding our client’s right to a fair trial. The judge clearly agreed with the defense that the actions of Willis are a result of her poor judgment and that there is a risk to the future of this case if she doesn’t quickly work to cure her conflict.
While we do not agree that the court’s suggested cure is adequate in response to the egregious conduct by the district attorney, we look forward to the district attorney’s response to the demands by the court. We will continue to fight for our client.
Ted Goodman, political advisor to Trump co-defendant and former New York Major Rudy Giuliani, said it “defies logic” for either Willis or Wade to stay on the case.
It defies logic for Fani Willis or Nathan Wade to remain on this case, considering the clear evidence of prosecutorial misconduct, including evidence of financial gain and providing untruthful testimony.
This whole show-trial should concern every American, including those who won’t be voting for President Trump, because while they might be targeting President Trump and Mayor Giuliani today, they’ll eventually come for you too — that is the danger of remaining silent in the face of injustice. The encouraging news is that more and more Americans are waking up to the fact that this whole show trial is part of a larger effort to keep President Trump out of the White House and to silence his supporters.
It’s a sad day in America. We are showing the world that the United States no longer has a fair system of justice.
Contrary to others, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens did not express dissatisfaction in his statement. Dickens has shown his support for Willis in the past, attending part of her disqualification hearings.
Now, DA Willis and her team can get back to the matter at hand—prosecuting Donald Trump and those involved in a concerted effort to steal an election. These people need to know that they cannot come to our state and overturn the will of the people, and voters in Atlanta and Georgia deserve to see justice served.
