Trump returns to Michigan with Oakland County event on Saturday – Detroit Free Press
Former President Donald Trump is headed back to Michigan ahead of the state’s Republican primary later this month, holding a rally in Oakland County this Saturday evening.
Trump’s campaign announced Monday afternoon he would hold a get-out-the-vote rally in Waterford at 7 p.m. this Saturday. Trump has been campaigning in South Carolina ahead of that state’s Republican primary on Feb. 24.
Michigan holds its GOP primary on Tuesday, Feb. 27, but only a portion of its nominating delegates will be awarded based on that voting, with the rest to be doled out at a series of congressional district-level Republican conventions to be held at Huntington Place in Detroit on Saturday, March 2. Delegates elected locally for each congressional district this week will vote for whom to give their support to at that convention.

Trump narrowly won Michigan in 2016 over Hillary Clinton before losing to Biden in the state in 2020.
Trump’s campaign said Trump will speak at the Elite Jet Center at Contact, 1675 Airport Road in Waterford, beginning at 7 p.m. Doors to the event open at 4 p.m. The event is open to the public, subject to space restrictions and general admission tickets are available here.
The visit is Trump’s first public one to the state since last September, when he spoke at a nonunion auto supplier’s plant in Macomb County during the UAW’s successful strike against the Detroit Three automakers, denouncing efforts to transition the industry to sell more electric vehicles. Trump also spoke at last summer’s Oakland County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day dinner.
Less than two weeks ago, Biden made his first campaign visit to Michigan of the political season, attending a UAW rally in Macomb County following the union giving him its endorsement in his reelection campaign.
