Hearings on former President Donald Trump’s alleged handling of classified documents will take place in federal court next week.
The hearings are about the Classified Information Procedures Act, which is a law that protects classified information from being disclosed in court.
The hearings on Monday will be split into two blocks. From 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Florida will hear arguments from each of the defendants outside the presence of the special counsel.
Trump’s co-defendants Waltine Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira are not expected to appear during the hearing.
From 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., the special counsel will provide arguments to the court outside the presence of defendants Trump, Nauta and De Oliveira.
Trump is accused of hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach after the end of his tenure as the 45th president of the United States in January 2021.
The indictment notes Trump was not allowed to retain the documents after the end of his presidency on Jan. 20, 2021, at 12 p.m.
The government accuses Nauta, at the direction of Trump, of moving boxes of documents to conceal them from Trump’s attorney, the FBI and the grand jury. De Oliveria is accused of moving the classified documents along with requesting the server for the surveillance to be deleted.
