'Trump' Boasts of 'Bottom of Barrel' Lawyers in Scorching 'Saturday Night Live' Open – The Messenger
"Saturday Night Live's" James Austin Thomas, playing a dead-on Donald Trump, cluelessly bragged about his "bottom of the barrel" legal team in the program's scathing opening takedown.
Trump attorney "Alina Habba" (played by Chloe Fineman) admitted in the Saturday sketch that she's “new at this” whole lawyering thing “and I am learning.”
The real Alina Habba was chastised repeatedly earlier this week in court at the E.Jean Carroll defamation case by Judge Lewis Kaplan, who told her to stand up when she addressed him, and to familiarize herself with rules of evidence.
Smiling "Trump" in the "SNL" sketch called Habba “maybe the worst lawyer I’ve ever had, which is quite an accomplishment" — but "great on TV."
Gesturing to the others surrounding him at a faux press conference, he added: "Look at this team. This is the bottom of the barrel, folks. This is who said yes. I’m in the lead for president, and this is the best I can get."
He added: "You're not getting paid, by the way."
Trump ended the presser with a plea to his voters: “Just stay alive till November. Stay alive till November, just pull that lever and drop dead. Why? Because I am sent from God, and God has a plan for me. Whatever, I don't know."
