The Presidential Preference Selection Committee selected the names Tuesday

The names are set for Wisconsin’s presidential primary in April, and former President Donald Trump will be on it.
The bipartisan Presidential Preference Selection Committee approved the names with no fanfare just days after a Wisconsin Democrat filed a petition with the Wisconsin Elections Commission attempting to ban Trump from the ballot, a petition the commission quickly rejected.
Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy and Donald Trump will appear for Republicans and President Joe Biden will appear for Democrats.
“The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has proudly endorsed President Biden and Vice President Harris, and we were honored to advance the President before the selection committee this morning,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Ben Wikler said in a statement.
Kirk Bangstad, owner of the Minocqua Brewing Company and the Minocqua Brewing Company PAC, who filed the petition, said he is now preparing to file a lawsuit still attempting to ban Trump from the ballot.
Bangstad, like petitioners in other states, cited Trump’s involvement in the Jan. 6 events at the U.S. Capitol, and pointed to the 14th Amendment which bans insurrectionists from holding office.
“I think he’ll be on the ballot in April,” Brian Schimming said Monday, chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “I imagine we’ll see some legal jumping around here up until the point, but I hope if the U.S. Supreme Court is needed to step in, not only in Wisconsin but other states as well, that they do so in a timely manner.”
The Presidential Preference Selection Committee, which is charged with determining the names to appear on the primary ballot, is made up of the state Democratic and Republican party chairs, the legislature’s majority and minority leaders and several others.
