Musk blasts Haley after fourth GOP debate: ‘Her campaign is dead’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk said on Thursday morning that he believes Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign is dead.

Musk wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that “her campaign is dead” in response to a post from conservative activist Christopher Rufo saying Haley supported Disney, BlackRock, environmental, social and governance investing and “child sex-changes.”

Musk’s post came the morning after the fourth GOP primary debate, hosted by The Hill’s sister news organization NewsNation, where Haley’s performance garnered mixed reviews.

The former UN ambassador did not suffer any on-stage disasters during the Wednesday night event, but it was viewed as her weakest debate performance so far.

In the past, she has been a central figure in the debates. In the latest one, however, she pushed back on personal questions but was unable to pivot the conversation to her preferred topics.

Musk has described himself as a centrist and said he voted for President Biden over former President Trump in the 2020 presidential election. It’s unclear who he currently supports in the race for the White House.

He has previously stated that he wanted “someone fairly normal” to be elected president in 2024.

More than a year ago, he said he would support Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) if he were to run. He then teamed up with DeSantis months later when he announced his campaign by hosting the announcement on what was then known as Twitter Spaces.

Since then, it appears Musk’s allegiance may have shifted. In August, he said entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is a “very promising candidate.”

The tech billionaire’s Thursday post also came after several major companies — including Disney — announced in mid-November that they would pull advertisements from X, which the tech billionaire owns, after he appeared to endorse antisemitic post on the platform.
