Fact Check: Fabricated X post shows Donald Trump Jr. reacting to … – Reuters

A fabricated screenshot of a post on X, formerly Twitter, showing Donald Trump Jr. reacting to his father being booed at a college football match, has misled users online. The image originates from a satire account on X.
The screenshot reads: “I guarantee there won't be a single stadium in the world booing my father can once he again gains access to cruise missiles. #WatchYourself,” and references a Nov. 25, 2023, football match in South Carolina where Trump, according to news reports, drew mixed reactions as he walked on the field.
The image was shared on Facebook (archived), alongside text that reads, in part, “Know who you are voting for. When someone shows you who they are the first and 2nd and 3rd and 4th etc time BELIEVE them.”
However, no such posts appear on Trump Jr.’s official X profile (archived).
The image also misspells the X account handle name as “@DonaldTrampJr,” which does not belong to any active profiles on the platform. Trump Jr.’s account handle is “@DonaldTrumpJr.”
The screenshot was originally shared (archived) by the satirical account @FaithRubPol and carries a “Parody” label in the bottom right corner. The user has also commented (archived) on the same post stating that it is a parody.
FaithRubPol’s bio says, “Most of the images we share are parodies.” Reuters Fact Check has previously addressed other fabricated screenshots created by the account that were taken seriously online.
The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
