The video shows an aircraft flying in low light, with smaller planes covering the flanks and others following.
The clip surfaced on Facebook and TikTok, with claims that it shows Trump’s jet escorted by military aircraft.
One user said in the comments: “Our President Donald Trump has more protection than Biden.” “I had no idea. Love it,” reads another.
Reuters traced the video to a YouTube account (iceman_fox1) posted on Oct. 18 with a headline that reads: “SPOTTED: Air Force One flying today with extensive fighter escort, somewhere in the Middle East.”
In the description, the user writes that the video was created using the videogame the Digital Combat Simulator (DCS).
The description of the account’s TikTok channel says that it contains videos “filmed with Digital Combat Simulator” (DCS) while its Instagram description says it contains “realistic DCS videos.”
In an email to Reuters on Oct. 27, the user said that they have made it “very clear” that every video on the channel is made with DCS.
A spokesperson for the Digital Combat Simulator did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
