Biden will resume flights for migrants | Oct. 6
After President Joe Biden spent months denying the crisis and liberals on social media crowed about how safe the border was on Biden’s watch, now he’s changing his tune. He wants to build more walls. Looks like Donald Trump was right all along.

Trial challenging DeSantis congressional map wraps up | Oct. 5
After 38 years, this is my last letter to the editor. We have left Florida due to the many issues our elected officials just do not care about. Our homeowner’s insurance has more than doubled since 2019. My electric bill has risen monthly this year, yes due to extreme heat but also unbridled corporate greed. The roads are torture, there is no enforcement of speed limits, and we have marginal public transportation. And then there are the hurricanes, which climate change has affected. Don’t get me started on the anti-woke nonsense. We have moved to a purple state as our country is about diversity. To the Tampa Bay Times, thanks for telling the facts and holding people accountable. As we crossed over the state line, while sad to leave friends and family, we felt relief.

If he has a pulse | Letter, Oct. 5
Sometimes, letters to the editor are the best reading because they can be the most candid (unvarnished) in their opinion. For Democratic constituents, a president just needs to carry the party mantra for four years. Being articulate or charismatic are not mandatory to be effective. The letter writer is being blunt concerning Biden’s electability. I call that blue-collar mentality.

Populist passions, not Trump, rule GOP | Column, Oct. 6
The problem with Republicans is Republicans. They have the unique advantage of being their own nemesis.

Will Riverwalk extend along Tampa’s gritty port? | Column, Sept. 23
On Thursday, we drove to downtown Tampa planning to spend the day walking around the Channel District and have a nice lunch at one of the many restaurants we saw (from our car). However, we could not find any public parking garages with available short-term parking. We longtime residents of the Tampa Bay area gave up and came home without ever getting out of our car. Why can’t the cruise ships have their own parking garages?
