Stephen A. Smith knocks Crockett over Trump criticism: ‘Is that gonna help your district?’

Stephen A. Smith blasted Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) for her criticism of President Trump, wondering how it helped her constituents.

“However Jasmine Crockett chooses to express herself, I’m like, is that gonna help your district in Texas?” the ESPN commentator said on a Wednesday episode of “Straight Shooter with Stephen A.”

“Aren’t you there to find a way to get stuff done, as opposed to just be an impediment to what Trump wants?” he continued. “How much work goes into that? ‘I’m just going to go off about Trump, cuss him out every chance I get, say the most derogatory, incendiary things imaginable, and that’s my day’s work.’ That ain’t work.”

Crockett has been an outspoken critic against Trump for his administration’s actions and personal conduct. Trump has insulted her multiple times.

“This is a low IQ person who I can’t even believe is a congressperson,” Trump told reporters in late September, referencing Crockett.

He made a similar comment in August.

“The Democrat Party is self-destructing,” Trump said in a CNBC interview. “I mean, when you have low-IQ people like Crockett.”

“I wonder if she’s any relation to the late, great Davy Crockett, who is a great, great, a great gentleman,” Trump continued. “I wonder if she’s got any relationship to Davy Crockett, the great old Davy Crockett.”

Last week, Crockett denounced the administration in an appearance on “MSNBC Live,” where she told viewers to not “back down” from bullies.

“I want the American people to know that when you stand up to a bully, you win,” Crockett said. “Do not back down. Do not bend. You allow them to go and wage their threats.”

“If everybody starts to bend, for sure, what is left of our democracy will be gone,” she continued. “And unfortunately, that is exactly what he wants. And even more sadly is that many of his followers agree with this.”

She has regularly pushed back against the administration on social platform X, writing that the government shutdown was the fault of Republicans.

“FACT: Republicans run the House, Senate, & White House… if there is a shutdown, Real Math says it’s the REPUBLICANS’ SHUTDOWN,” she wrote.
