Letters: Donald Trump's mug shot has a story to tell – The Columbus Dispatch
Former President Donald Trump’s mug shot has attracted the attention of everyone, with comments both pro and con.
It appears to have been an obviously staged event, although the intended message remains unclear. Various explanations of its meaning are inconclusive. One can only speculate what the true intent was meant to be.
As Trump’s current activities continue to develop, it seems extremely ironic that his image will always be identified by an iconic mug shot.

To understand such an unusual image, imagine an overlaid picture of a dog’s face, with teeth bared, fangs prominently visible, eyes glaring, in attack mode.
Imagine another picture of a cat with eyes directed at a target, back bowed and hissing a warning.
Imagine a picture of a bull with head down, eyes bulging, and hot breath being exhaled from flaring nostrils. Imagine a picture of a snake, backed into a corner, coiled into a ball, ready to strike and spew its poisonous venom.
Trump’s mug shot portrays suggestive images of being ready to attack, while also being defensive, domineering, defiant, and determined to maintain a demeaning attitude toward those who have opposing opinions. Whether voters are pro-Trump or against him, all should consider him as a serious political figure. While many have voted for Trump two times, (me included), his base of political support is being questioned.
Many will not be fooled again.
He is not to be trusted and certainly not elected president. His actions speak louder than words, – or a mug shot.

Whaaaa?
How can it be legal to use public tax dollars to pay private school tuition in Ohio’s one-billion dollar universal voucher program?
It’s not.
After reading the Dispatch article, “LifeWise Academy brings Bible study to kids during public school day,” I learned the U.S. Supreme requires parents to pay for religious education during their children’s public school day. Classes must be held off-site and transportation paid for by parents.
Further, the Ohio Constitution specifically states that no public funds are to be used for private or religious schools (Article VI, section 2).
With universal vouchers comes universal bussing costs for public-school districts who bear the cost of transporting all district voucher students to private schools. Property taxes will continue to rise as the public is forced to pay a billion dollars for private school tuition.

There is a solution. Scores of states across the country have banned private school voucher programs.
Ohio is also on that path.
About 250 public-school districts have already signed on to “Vouchers Hurt Ohio,” the lawsuit against the state for using public tax dollars to pay for private schools.
Please call your local school board and urge them to join the lawsuit to ban private school vouchers in Ohio.
