A pair of civil and political activists have filed an injunction asking a federal judge to keep Donald Trump's name off the ballot in Virginia.
The activists made the announcement on December 22, days after the Colorado Supreme Court removed former president Trump from the state's 2024 presidential primary ballot.
The U.S. Supreme Court could soon weigh in on the issue as well, but the Virginia activists want Trump's name off the Commonwealth's primary ballot now.

Roy L. Perry-Bey and Carlos A. Howard, activists from Hampton Roads, call Trump an insurrectionist in their announcement of the injunction filing. In their statement, the pair claims Trump's election interference is behind the filing.
"Mr. Perry-Bey and Mr. Howard, claim Trump’s overt election interference undermine or deprive them of their right to participate equally in secure, free and fair elections, due to Trump’s filing his statement of candidacy to participate in the 2024 Presidential Primary election," the statement reads.

The preliminary injunction was filed on December 18, according to court records.

"The lawsuit and injunction to prohibit the constitutionally ineligible presidential candidate and GOP's insurrectionist front runner who said Campaign Finance Violations Aren't a Crime threatens to upend Trump's participation in the 2024 Presidential Primary election(s) that had delayed him in filing a declaration of candidacy, and his name appearing on the general elections ballots in the Commonwealth of Virginia," the activists said in their statement.
